01 Dec

Dr. Alexandros Bader – Talks About Post Delivery.

Now that the pregnancy is (finally) over, you’ve been rewarded with a living, breathing wonder – and a new title: Mom. Like just about everything else in your life, your body faces significant changes in the weeks and months following your baby’s birth.
In this postpartum period, which begins immediately after delivery, your body will heal from childbirth, rebuild its strength and begin to regain its pre-pregnancy shape.
The more you know about what to expect, the better prepared you’ll be to cope with the physical and emotional changes that come post-pregnancy.
Women may experience a wide range of postpartum problems, some more serious than others and each with its own symptoms. Some of the more common problems include:

    • Postpartum infections, (including uterine, bladder, or kidney infections)
    • Excessive bleeding after delivery
  • Pain in the perineal area (between the vagina and the rectum)
  • Vaginal discharge

We asked Dr. Alxandros Bader, from his experience on post-delivery –

Dr. Bader who specializes in aesthetic and cosmetic vaginal surgery and urogynecology has performed over 1,500 operations worldwide and has operated on patients from more than 45 different countries.

What are the main complications after delivery? What are their main complaints?

The main complications are the relaxation of local muscles and multi wounds of the introitus and entire vaginal canal. The main complaints are feeling of loose muscles and lack of control on them. Symptoms, in this case, are lack of urine control with leakage every time the patients are pressing on the lower abdominal walls (gym, cough, sneeze, sexual intercourse). Also, the laxity of the tissues at same area will alert these patients with lack of sexual satisfaction and alteration of sexual life quality.

What are the age groups SUI and Laxity are most common at? Is there any difference between the age groups?

Usually, the age group here is young women in their reproductive age. So we can talk in between 30 and 45. Of course, the older is the woman it gets worse because of tissue elasticity which is definitely getting affected by age and the number of deliveries.
Statistics in the USA shows that 28,000,000 women suffering from UI and among them, 15,000,000 are suffering from SUI only!!  Meaning more than 50% of urine Incontinence patients suffer from stress type of Incontinence which is mainly related to post-delivery anatomical defects.

Are the complications show up after first pregnancy? Second? When should the woman seek for treatment?

It could happen after any pregnancy. This depends on the nature of the pregnancy and the delivery itself. Has the woman had a difficult delivery, if vacuum or forceps have been used, how big is the neonatal and of course how experience is the obstetrician. Bear in mind that in some countries normal deliveries are in the duty of midwife and not even a doctor. In this case, complications might be even greater.

How long after the delivery will you recommend undergoing the treatment?(/h4>

My recommendations are 3 to 4 months. Usually, I include this during the routine check-up 3 months after the delivery.

Can breastfeeding Interrupt with the treatment?

Not at all. This is one of the laser advantages. We can use it without interfering the synergy between a mother and her baby. A laser is safe in this case.

What is the success rate of FemiLift treatments?

The success rate is extremely high. About 83% of SUI and Vaginal laxity issue treatments are considered as the success. We have a high prevention percentage of the same symptoms. From my statistics’ we are talking about 87% of success!!!

Do you see growth in women seeking a treatment after delivery?

Definitely yes. Patients are constantly asking about the procedure. I can say that after 5 years of experience in this field, every 2nd woman is asking to be informed about it and every 3rd woman is asking to undergo the treatment!! This is massive if you add the numbers.
